Research Park at Florida Atlantic University
Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority – created by the Broward and Palm Beach County Commissions in 1985 to establish and govern the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, South Florida’s only state university affiliated research park.
The purpose of the Research Park is to foster access to the intellectual capital in the FAU student body and faculty as well as joint grant opportunities to enable faster, more cost effective paths to market for new products created by the Research Park’s entrepreneurial tenants.
- Boca Raton Research Park – adjacent to north side of the FAU Boca Raton campus
- Deerfield Beach Research Park – on Interstate 95 at SW 10th Street exit
Research Park tenants: mature technology and R&D companies, including the North American headquarters for one of the top 250 companies on the London Stock Exchange, a Fortune 1000 company and a host of other companies many with international trade channels and headquarters across the United States. Most businesses are working in conjunction with the FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science, the FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and the FAU College of Business.
Technology Business Incubator tenants: more than 20 startup and emerging technology companies each of which receives business and consulting services, with the goal of becoming established businesses and permanent residents of the Research Park.
Also located at the Park are the New World Angels (newworldangels.com), a structured investor group; the Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research (www.florida-institute.com), the clearinghouse for technology transfer in Florida; and Enterprise Development Corporation of South Florida (edc-tech.org), a nonprofit organization that assists emerging science and technology companies.
